One month countdown....

Wow! It is August already! And for me, this marks the one-month countdown for my departure to Liberia to serve with Mercy Ships! I want to give a shout-out to my friend Bradd for setting up this blog for me....I happen to be a prolific journaler...however, I lack even an ounce of technical savvy, so trying to figure out this blog deal was a little daunting. Thanks for helping a sister out. I'll try to post a couple entries at least, and hopefully some pictures before I leave so I can get the hang of this. So my disclaimer is: anything before September 1st is blogging practice for me. Feel free to read for your own entertainment!

I have had many people ask me how I am feeling as the departure date approaches. My response: EXCITED. Yes, I am thrilled at this opportunity God is giving me and am enjoying the process of preparing to go. I am so blessed by my dear family and friends who are all sharing in this experience, and who are allowing me the privilege of walking alongside them in their passions and callings as well. This is an exciting season right now! Thank you for your place in it all!

Here is my specific timeline for the next several months:
Sept 1: Depart from Seattle
Sept 2: Arrive in Monrovia, Liberia, travel to Mercy Ship
Sept 3: remainder of week, settling in, orienting to nursing position on board
Sept, Oct, Nov: work as pediatric ICU nurse on board ship
Dec 1: Set sail for the Canary Islands (not sure how long this sail is)
Dec 11: Depart Canary Islands
Dec 13: Arrive in Seoul, S.Korea
Dec 13-28: spend time with Julie and Dave (sister and bro-in-law)'s family for Christmas
Dec 28: Fly home to Seattle!
